January 25, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: A 15 lakh litres capacity overhead water tank will be constructed at Dattagalli soon at an estimated cost of Rs.2.70 crore, said Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Devegowda. He was speaking after launching a slew of developmental works worth Rs. 77 lakh in Ward No. 46 at Dattagalli in city on Wednesday.

The MLA said tender process for the construction of overhead tank was in progress and works would commence shortly. It would be taken up out of Mysuru City Corporation funds. “I wanted to see the implementation of Unduvadi drinking water scheme, Amruth scheme and Kabini water scheme. Now, it is becoming a reality one by one,” he said.

Tax Collection: The MCC officials have so far, collected Rs. 103 crore tax from all 65 Wards in city out of which Rs.19 crore had been collected from Zone – 3. More importantly, out of Rs.19 crore,                                                                      Rs. 4.50 crore had been from Ward No.46. Under 15th Finance Scheme, the MCC has released Rs. 2.70 crore for drinking water, Devegowda said.

Empty sites cleaning at owners’ cost: The former Minister said that the citizens, who have purchased sites in Dattagalli, have left them vacant in the last 10-20 years resulting in the growth of weeds in the plots. The MCC has now decided to clean such empty plots. As part of this, a cleanliness drive had been launched from the plots situated near Mahalakshmi Temple. An annual tax of Rs. 4,800 has been imposed on each site measuring  60 ft X 40 ft and the site would be cleaned three times in a year. There were 3,100 sites in Ward No. 46 alone. Tax of Rs. 2 per square feet has been fixed with which the MCC has mobilised Rs. 49 lakh and the same money was spent on the cleaning of empty plots. The tax collected from the ward was spent on the developmental works in the same ward, he noted.
