170 buses to ferry 8,000 beneficiaries for ‘Siddu Show’

Mysuru: Over 170 buses will ferry  about 8,000 beneficiaries to the ‘Sarakari Soulabhya Vitarana Sambhrama’ programme to be held in city at the Maharaja’s College Grounds tomorrow.

They will be ferried from their respective villages from districts that come under Mysuru division — Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Dakshina Kannada and Hassan. In all, the government is expecting more than 40,000 beneficiaries and their relatives.

All the beneficiaries will be given free food packets and each bus will have an officer to supervise the food distribution, said DC D. Randeep. Speaking to Star of Mysore this morning, Randeep said that other participants and people will have to make their own arrangements for food. Stalls will be set up at the venue where people can purchase food, he added.

The Mysuru district administration is organising the event and regarding who will bear the cost of transportation and allied costs of the beneficiaries and officials accompanying them to the programme, the DC said that the Department of Information will bear half of the costs and the remaining will be borne by the respective departments.

All the departments will have funds to promote government schemes and programmes and a part of it will be used by them for the mega event, he added.
