2 held for looting Bihar man

Periyapatna Police, on Tuesday, have arrested two persons on charges of waylaying a man from Bihar and looting him of Rs. 50,000 cash and a mobile phone.

The arrested persons have been identified as Madhu, a resident of Devegowdanakoppal and Kumar, a resident of Upparageri.

It is reported that on Mar. 11 night, the Bihar man, identified as Guddukumar, a labour contractor, was walking to the Ginger Processing Unit on Siddapur Road, when the accused, who came on a bike, waylaid him, assaulted him and looted him of cash and a mobile phone, before fleeing.

Following the complaint lodged by Guddukumar, Periyapatna Police, who swung into action, were successful in arresting the accused and have also seized the bike used for the crime and have recovered Rs. 35,000 from them. The duo was produced before a Court which has remanded them to judicial custody.

Dy.SP Dr. Vikram Amte supervised Circle Inspector H.N. Siddaiah and staff Idayat, Rudresh and Narayana Shetty in the nabbing and seizing operation.
