3-day District Police Sports Meet begins

December 6, 2024

Mysuru: The three-day annual District Police Sports Meet organised by District Police began at the District Armed Reserve (DAR) Grounds in Jyothinagar here this morning.

The sports meet was inaugurated by State and National-level kick-boxer M. Sahana in the presence of Superintendent of Police (SP) N. Vishnuvardhana, Additional SP L. Nagesh, Dy.SP Veeranna and other officers.

Speaking on the occasion, Sahana said that time sense and patience was very much essential for a sports person and asked the participating Police personnel to forget their daily duty stress and take part in the sports meet.

“I am happy to inaugurate the annual sports meet of District Police where my father Mahadevaiah worked and retired as an Assistant Sub-Inspector. Winning and losing is a part of any sports which should be taken sportily. Here, participation is more important,” she said.

Various events such as 100 mts sprint, 400 mts run, 800 mts run, high jump, long jump, shot put, volleyball, kabaddi, cricket, fast walking, shooting for officers, tug-of-war and other sports are being held during the three-day meet which will conclude on Dec. 8.

Earlier, DAR Constable G.G. Raghunandhan brought the sports-torch to the grounds and DAR Inspector Deviprasad administered oath to the participants.

The valedictory ceremony and prize distribution will be held on Dec. 8 at 4 pm at the DAR Grounds in Jyothinagar.
