‘4,000 Ayurveda medical graduates pass out every year in State’

Mysuru: Nearly 4,000 medical graduates passing out from 70 Ayurveda Medical Colleges in State every year have to worry about their future, said AYUSH (Ayurveda Yoga Unani Siddha Homeopathy) Department Joint Director Dr. Ahalya Sharma.

She was speaking after inaugurating the 70th anniver-sary of National Integrated Medical Association (NIMA) and a National-level Seminar organised by Mysore Chapter of NIMA at a private hotel in city recently.

“In the medical world different types of medicines are practised. Hence, it is important to suggest solutions to different types of medical and patients’ problems. If the practitioners of Ayurveda, Allopathy and Siddha come together then the problems can be solved in a holistic way. NIMA is doing this work by bringing the registered medical practitioners of different types of medicines on a single platform,” she lauded.

At the college level itself the students of medicine need to be imparted knowledge of medical law, training and social awareness. There should not be any impediments while treating the patients or teaching the students, she said.

Former NIMA President K.C. Ballal said that the Association was started in 1948 and doctors from Allopathy, Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and from different medical fields are members of this Association. The Association is focusing on medical legal field and creating awareness among the public, he added.

NIMA President Dr. Bhoosanur Math, Government Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital Principal Dr. Gajanana Hegde, JSS Ayurveda Medical College Principal Dr. Rajesh, Chamarajanagar’s DAO Dr. Punith Babu, Dr. Chandrashekar, Dr. Kallesh, Dr. Amith Kumar, NIMA Mysuru Chapter Hon. President Dr. B.N. Shashidhar, President Dr. Subashchandra Bose and others were present.
