45 DLs impounded on single day for using mobile while driving

Mysore/Mysuru: Driving License (DL) of 45 motorists, who were caught red-handed talking on mobile phones while riding in city, has been impounded and submitted to Regional Transport Office (RTO) for further action.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sandesh Kumar said all the 45 DLs were impounded on Monday alone. Of late, there has been increase in accidents due to use of mobile phone while driving. Observing this, the Department had to take such stringent action on repeated offenders.

To book such cases, an Assistant Sub-Inspector and three Traffic Police Constables are deployed at all junctions, main roads and circles mornings and evenings daily. Motorists must stop using cell phone while driving vehicles failing which,  their DLs will be impounded for repeated offences, he added.
