51,000 guest teachers to be appointed: Minister

Mysuru: In a major move to address the teacher shortage in Government schools, the State Government has announced the recruitment of 51,000 guest teachers for the academic year 2025-26.

An official order has been issued by the Department of School Education and Literacy, with 40,000 guest teachers to be appointed in Primary Schools and 11,000 in High Schools.

Speaking on the development, Minister for School Education Madhu Bangarappa said that schools have been instructed to complete all preparations before reopening on May 29, ensuring the smooth conduct of academic activities.

He added that the recruitment process was initiated in advance to avoid any disruption to learning due to teacher shortages.

As per the Government’s decision, Primary School guest teachers will be paid an honorarium of Rs. 12,000 per month, while High School guest teachers will receive Rs. 12,500 per month.
