Results to be announced online tomorrow
Mysuru: A total of 5,627 candidates have cleared the seventh Karnataka State Eligibility Test (K-SET) that was held on Dec.30, 2018. The results of this much-awaited test will be announced tomorrow (Mar.30) online on the website
The examination was held strictly as per the guidelines of University Grants Commission (UGC) which accredited the University of Mysore (UoM) as the nodal agency for conducting the K-SET.
UoM Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, addressing a press conference at the Crawford Hall here yesterday, said that out of a total of 94,840 candidates registered for the K-SET-2018 examination, 80,758 candidates appeared for the examination out of whom 36,346 were male and 44,412 female. Among them 75,140 have failed to clear the examination, he added.
Of the 5,627 candidates (pass percentage 6.96 per cent) who have cleared the examination 3,154 are male and 2,473 female. The list also includes 113 candidates who have cleared the exam under PWD (Person with Disability) quota, the VC said.
The candidates who have passed this exam will be eligible to be appointed as Assistant Professors in Universities and degree colleges in the State and the certificates issued by this centre are having life-time validity, he added.
Candidates from the Commerce stream had the maximum number of eligible candidates with 791 followed by Kannada with 627.
Among the 11 centres, Bengaluru had the highest pass percentage with 9.68 per cent followed by Mangaluru with 8.91 per cent. Mysuru stood third with 7.26 per cent, while Kalaburagi stood last at 4.40 per cent, he said.
Out of the 39 candidates who wrote the Criminology exam, seven passed (17.94 pc) and it stands first, while out of 4,852 who wrote the Mathematics exams only 88 students (1.81 pc) passed and it stands last.
Two third gender candidates had also appeared for the exam. While one of them was absent, the other failed to clear the test.
The three-year accreditation of the University awarded by UGC ended in December 2018. Now, we are planning to apply for a permanent accreditation this time, said Prof. Hemantha Kumar.
Maulya Bhavan (wrongly named, it should have been Maulya Mapana Bhavan) was constructed for management of K-SET exams and there are all necessary infrastructure in place. Hence University of Mysore must get permanent accreditation, said K-SET coordinator Prof. H. Rajashekar.
UoM Registrar Prof. Lingaraja Gandhi and Registrar (Evaluation) Prof. K.M. Mahadevan were present at the press meet.
