56th National Pharmacy Week: ‘Generic medicines are of best quality in the world’

Mysuru: As part of 56th National Pharmacy Week, Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Mysuru Wing, had organised a function at Rajendra Auditorium in JSS Pharmacy College premises here on Dec.8  with a theme ‘Know your medicines:  Ask your pharmacist.’

Inaugurating the programme, Dr. B. Anila, Senior Marketing Officer, Pradhan Mantri Bharathiya Jan-Aushadi Kendra (PMBJK), Karnataka Zone, opined that the generic medicines available at PMBJK outlets were not just cheap but are of the best quality in the world. She added that the quality had been authenticated by World Health  Organisation (WHO).

She said that there were about 2,500 pharma companies in India and if each one of them open a generic medicine outlet, it would be a boon for the poor people.

Referring to the scenario in society she regretted that mud slinging was rampant among politicians which was not a healthy sign.

JSS Pharmacy College Principal Dr. T.M. Pramod Kumar presided. Deputy Drug Controller, Mysuru Region C.M. Shivakumar, IPA Mysuru Wing President Gurubasavaraj Pujar, Sarada Vilas Pharmacy College Principal Dr. Hanumanthachar Joshi, Farooquia Pharmacy College Principal Dr. Mohammed Salauddin, Karnataka State Government Pharmacists Association Mysuru-Chamarajanagar Branch President    C.L. Somashekar, Mysuru District   Chemists and Druggists Association President S. Kumaraswamy and others were present.
