Mysuru: Marking the 66th Tibetan National Uprising Day, members of various Tibetan organisations took out a protest march in city yesterday condemning the unprecedented suffering, violation of basic human rights and economic discrimination and marginalisation, by the Chinese Government.

Tibetans became political refugees in 1959 when the Chinese planned to kidnap the Dalai Lama for which Tibetans from all walks of life came together to provide human shield to Norbulingkha where Dalai Lama lived by risking their lives to protect him and were successful. The Dalai Lama and about 80,000 Tibetans crossed the mighty Himalayas to seek political asylum in India, Nepal and Bhutan and Mar. 10 not only signifies a day of mourning and commemorating those brave hearts who have died for Tibet, but also a day to celebrate the indomitable spirit of Tibetans in prevailing against all odds from one of the most brutal modern day governments.

Leaders of various Tibetan organisations Tsering Lhakyap, Chung Tsering, Nyma Sicho, Tsering Chodan and others led the protest.
