70th Mastakabhisheka at Gommatagiri on Sunday

“The 70th Mastakabhisheka to the statue of Gommateshwara at Gommatagiri near Bettadur village in Bilikere Hobli of Hunsur Taluk will be held tomorrow at 12 noon under the aegis of Sri Gommatagiri Kshetra Seva Samithi,” said President of the Samithi Dr. M.V. Shanthakumar. Addressing a press meet yesterday, he said, “Dr. Devendra Keerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji of Sri Kshetra Hombuja Jain Mutt, Shivamogga will grace the occasion. For the first time, Bhattaraka Siddhanta Keerthi Swamiji of Arathipura Jain Mutt, Mandya is also participating in the Mastakabhisheka ritual. The statue of Gommateshwara will be anointed with water (Mangala Kalashabhisheka), turmeric, sandal, kumkum, tender coconut, milk and other ingredients as per the Jain tradition. Thousands of devotees will be participating in the annual ritual,” he said. Sunil Kumar Jain, Dharanendra Kumar, S.N. Prakash Babu and Vasupal were present at the press meet.
