7K run for ‘Rare Diseases Day’ in city on March 8

As part of World Rare Diseases Day (Feb. 29), ORDI Race for 7 event will be organised in 18 cities across India in the months of February and March. The second edition of the Mysuru event, a 7-km Run- Walkathon, will be organised on Mar. 8 (Sunday) at 7 am. The event will be flagged off from Balarama Gate of Mysore Palace. ORDI, in association with JSS Hospital, last year, opened Rare Disease Care Co-ordination Centre (RDCCC) for facilitating diagnosis, care and treatment of people from in and around the district affected with rare diseases. Prasanna Shirol, Co-founder and Executive Director, ORDI, said “Through ‘Race for 7’ we aim to spread awareness about challenges faced by rare disease patients in India and the urgent need to provide resources and care to treat them. ” More than 1,000 participants are expected to take part in the event.
