Mysuru:  With the poll notification for the Aug. 31 MCC polls issued, a total of 8 candidates   have filed their nomination papers till Thursday.

Those who have filed the nomination papers so far include sitting MCC Corporator S. Balu of JD(S), who is seeking re-election from Ward No. 42 (K.G. Koppal), M. Shivakumar of the Congress as Congress candidate, former Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath from Ward No. 11 (Shanthinagar Mahadevapura Road)  as Congress candidate sans ‘B’ form, C. Mahesh from Ward No. 3 (Mahadeshwara Extension) as Independent candidate, Srinivas as Independent candidate from Ward No. 4 (Hebbal-Lokanayaknagar), S. Karthik as Independent candidate from Ward No. 58 (Ramakrishnanagar), Hemavathi as Independent candidate from Ward No. 54 (Gundu Rao Nagar) and M. M. Prasad from Ward No. 35.

The last day for filing of nominations is Aug. 20.
