96-year-old removes footwear before casting vote

May 11, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: A nonagenarian woman took the Polling Officials by surprise, when she voted with utmost devotion, by removing her footwear, before voting at a Polling Booth in the city.

Bangaramma, 96, a resident of Gundurao Nagar, is the one who exercised her franchise at Polling Booth Number-233 in Krishnaraja Assembly Constituency yesterday. Following the tradition in practice to remove footwear before doing any auspicious work, Bangaramma too left her footwear aside before pressing the EVM button.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Bangaramma said: “I like to vote at the polling booth rather than voting at home and hence, I turned down the offer to make arrangements at home.  I wish good for the people of the State and country and everybody should vote for the good of all.”
