Mysuru: Depressed over not being paid full salary since two years, a contract Pourakarmika attempted suicide by consuming poison at his residence in city this morning.

The Pourakarmika, who attempted suicide, has been identified as 25-year-old Sathyanarayana, a resident of Ambedkar Colony in Ashokapuram who was working under Contractor Thammanna and deputed at MCC Ward No. 18.

It is reported that Sathyanarayana was not being  paid his full salary and whenever Sathyanarayana used to ask the contractor for the payment of his pending salary amount, Thammanna used to allegedly scold and threaten him.

Depressed over this, Sathyanarayana attempted suicide by consuming poison at his residence this morning and was rushed to K.R. Hospital by his family member.

Soon, members of Dalitha Sangarsha Samiti (DSS) and other Dalit organisations assembled at K.R. Hospital and condemned the attitude of Thammanna. They also urged for the payment of pending salary amount. Ashokapuram Police have registered a case.
