‘Amateur theatre needs due recognition and support’

Mysuru:  Greeshma Rangotsava, an amateur theatre festival in memory of theatre artiste C.G. Krishnaswamy (CGK) organised by Rangayana commenced at Bhoomigeeta in Rangayana premises here on Saturday.

Inaugurating the festival, senior theatre artiste S. Malathi Sagar opined that amateur theatre needed a good support and encouragement from the Government. She contended that amateur theatre   was the best de-stressing avenue for people engrossed in their regular profession.

She recalled that CGK, a faculty of Economics at Bangalore University, revolutionised the concept of amateur theatre. She added that CGK’s  plays had effectively exposed social problems.
