“Law students should understand the differences between International Law and Domestic Law,” opined Prof. David Ambrose, Professor of Law at the Department of Legal Studies, Madras University.
He was addressing the gathering at the inaugural ceremony of Model United Nations Conference-2017 on the theme ‘Reforming of International Monetary System, Regulation of International Trade and Intellectual Property Rights’ organised by the Department of Studies in Law, University of Mysore at Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC) here yesterday.
He said that the functional aspects of International Law were based on ‘sources’ and ‘subjects’ while the objective of Domestic Law is to render justice and added that International Law aims to maintain peace and security between States, however, humans are also subjects of International Law as Human Rights are included in them.
Stating that the activities of terrorists was increasing in all countries including India, Prof. David said that the issue should be taken seriously and International Law should be strengthened to maintain peace.
Mysore University Registrar Prof. R. Rajanna, Chairman of Department of Studies in Law Ramesh, Conference Co-ordinator T.R. Maruthi, Conference President Fathima Ibrahim, Vice-President Anushree Manoj and others were present.
