Deia wins Gold at Mabuni Cup: To represent India at APSKF Championships

All India Shito Ryu Karate Do Union (AISKU) had organised Mabuni Cup 2018 at Chamundi Vihar Indoor Stadium, Nazarbad here on Aug.25 and 26. Around 400 participants, affiliated to All India Shito Ryu Karate Do Union from Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Maharastra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka took part in the event. The Championship was inaugurated by APSKF President Shihan George Tan of Malaysia, AISKU Advisor Shihan T.S. Wong of Singapore, President of AISKU, Senior Vice-President of Karate Association of India Shihan C.S. Arun Machaiah and AKSKA General Secretary Shihan Altaf Pasha.

KAI Tournament Commission Member Karate Sudhakar, AKF Judges Shihan N.G. Shivadas, ShihanShankara were also present on the occasion.

In the 16-17 years Girls Junior Kata Category, current State Junior and Senior No.1 seed Deia Urs beat Charu Sharma of Sikkim 5-0 in the quarter-finals, beat N. Velangini of Tamil Nadu 5-0 in the Semi finals and clinched the Gold Medal by beating SahanaSandigda of Telengana 5-0 in the finals.

Deia Urs will be representing India in the Female Junior Kata Division at the 15th Asia Pacific Shito Ryu Karate Federation Championships to be held at Jakarta, Indonesia, from Nov.22 to 25.

Third Degree Black Belt holder Deia Urs is being trained by her father B.S. Srinath Urs, who is an Accredited and Certified National Kata Coach of Karate Association of India (KAI). Both practice under AISKU President Shihan C.S. Arun Machaiah and Shuko Kai Shito Ryu Karate Do India President Shihan E. S. Kumar.

The following students of The Orchids Public School excelled at the Mabuni Cup -2018: While Nithin K. Gowda (Class 8th) was placed second in senior boys Kata category and Senior boys Kumite category, Disha A. Gowda (Class 9) was placed 3rd in Kumite among girls.
