City writer nominated to Karnataka Urdu Academy

Mysuru: Mushtaq Sayeed, a writer and poet from Mysuru, has been nominated as the member of Karnataka Urdu Academy (KUA) by the Minister for Minorities Zameer Ahmed Khan recently. Mushtaq Sayeed, a renowned Urdu short story writer, novelist, dramatist and poet has published ‘Parchayian’ in 2003 and ‘Tanhayian’ in 2013. His writings are full of humour and satire. About three short story books, one novel ‘Ajeeb Dastan hai yeh,’ three dramas, ‘Shaikh Chilly’, ‘Aik Din ka Sultan’ and ‘Mein kya karoon’ and a pen sketches ‘Khakey’ and a collection of poems are ready for publication.

A Commerce graduate of 1964, served in BEL, Bengaluru from January, 1970 to August, 2000 in various capacity in the Accounts section. He did his MA while in service. He has been awarded ‘Best prose writer of 2013’ by KUA, Best humour and satire writer of 2018 by Daily Pasban Award, Lifetime Achievement Award by MYF, Chamarajanagar.
