As part of the 91st birthday celebrations of former MLA Dr. H.D. Chowdaiah, Dr. H.D. Chowdaiah Cultural Foundation, Mandya, had organised a programme at Nitya Sachiva K.V. Shankaregowda Employment and Training Centre Auditorium, PES Engineering College in Mandya, to present the State-level Dr. H.D. Chowdaiah Rural Development, Sports and Literary Awards to achievers and Talent Awards to meritorious students for the year 2018. The Awardees — Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha leader K.S. Nandini Jayaram of Chikkamandagere village, K.R. Pet taluk (Dr. H.D. Chowdaiah Rural Development Award); Littérateur and Commissioner of Textile Development Dr. M.R. Ravi (Dr  H.D. Chowdaiah Literary Award); M.K. Nakul and M.K. Sahadev of Subashnagar, Mandya (Dr H.D. Chowdaiah Sports Award) — are seen with former MLA Dr. H.D. Chowdaiah, Higher Education and Mysuru District Minister G.T. Devegowda, Mandya MLA M. Srinivas, Minor Irrigation and Mandya District Minister C. S. Puttaraju, Foundation President H. Honnappa and others. On the occasion, Pratibha Puraskar were presented to H.S. Sowmya, daughter of Shantharaju and P. Kumar, son of Puttaswamy, Konanahalli Thittu, both of Holalu Government High School; S.K. Meghana, daughter of S.K. Kumar of Shivalli, S.B. Venika, daughter of Boregowda of Shivalli and B.J. Srujan, son of G.C. Jaikumar of Ganadalu, all students of Sri Venkateshwara Vidyanikethana, Holalu.
