Mysuru: The Regional English Language Office, US Embassy, New Delhi and US Consulate General, Chennai, have awarded the English Access Microscholarship Programme (Access Program) to the Centre for Social Action (CSA), the development action wing of Christ (Deemed to be University). Christ School, Thandavapura, Mysuru and Bharath Matha PU College, Koppa, Mysuru District will implement the Access Programme that would benefit 75 students.

Lauren Lovelace, Consul for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, US Consulate General in Chennai formally inaugurated the Access Programme at Christ School, Thandavapura recently.

“Apart from enhancing the proficiency of English language among select school students, the Access Programme will provide them training on life skills, facilitate educational field trips, and encourage students to become community leaders,” said Lovelace.

The English Access Microscholarship Programme (Access Program) provides a foundation of English language skills to talented 13 to 20-year-old students from economically disadvantaged sectors through after-school classes and intensive sessions. Access gives participants English skills that may lead to better jobs and educational prospects. Participants also gain the ability to compete for and participate in future exchanges and study in the United States.
