Bengaluru: Even as the demand by disgruntled Congress legislators for Cabinet expansion is growing by the day, the Congress, which is in a jubilant mood following victory in three key States of Hindi Heartland, is said to be planning to drop two of its quota of Ministers and also suspend two other party legislators for anti-party activities.
The two Ministers who are likely to be dropped are Small Scale Industries Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi of the Congress and Forest Minister R. Shankar, an independent member who was inducted into the Cabinet after he extended support to JD(S)-Congress Coalition Government. However, the names of two Congress legislators who are likely to be suspended for their alleged efforts to cross over to the Opposition BJP as part of an attempt to pull down the Coalition Government have not been revealed.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy is said to have decided to expand his Cabinet on Dec. 22 after the conclusion of the ongoing Belagavi Legislature session on Dec. 20. The likely Cabinet expansion has rekindled hopes in Congress legislators, who are keen to join the Cabinet.
