Marking the birth anniversary of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu, District Administration and Department of Kannada and Culture have organised a function on Dec.29 at 11 am at Kalamandira here. Presiding over a preliminary meeting in that context at DC’s office here recently, Additional DC T. Yogesh asked the officials to organise the function with due credit for the life and contributions of Kuvempu to Kannada literature. Litterateur Prof. K. Bhyravamurthy will be the main speaker at the programme which also features renditions of Kuvempu’s poems and a dance-drama. Members of Pro-Kannada organisations attending the meeting sought a thorough cleaning of Kuvempu’s statue at Mathru Mandali Circle in Vontikoppal.

Before the stage programme at Kalamandira, Kuvempu statue near Gun House will be garlanded at 8 am.

Kannada and Culture Assistant Director H. Chennappa, leaders of various Kannada organisations and others attended the meeting.
