To shut outlets every Sunday in protest against the Oil Marketing Companies
New Delhi – Petrol Bunk owners have threatened to not purchase petrol and diesel for a day on May 10 and subsequently shut outlets every Sunday in protest against the Oil Marketing Companies which have allegedly gone back on their promise to increase margin for the dealers.
The Consortium of India Petroleum Dealers (CIPD) held a meeting at the Kurukshetra on Apr. 8 and 9 where it was decided to launch a formal protest against the Oil marketing companies. As per the decision, the petroleum dealers will observe ‘No Purchase Day’ on May 10 during which they will not purchase petrol and diesel from the Oil companies.
Later, they will also shut their businesses on subsequent Sundays starting from May 14 and work from 9 am to 6 pm on the weekdays.
The dealers, who had decided to launch similar protest last year, had withdrawn the stir following an assurance from the companies to revise commission. The Consortium of India Petroleum Dealers will also submit a memorandum to Petroleum Ministry before launching the protest, sources said.
