V.A. Shashikanth of Bengaluru North hogged the limelight on the concluding day of the first Karnataka State Youth Athletic Meet-2019, conducted by the Mysore District Athletic Association (MDAA) under the aegis of Karnataka Athletic Association (KAA) at Chamundi Vihar Stadium here yesterday, and emerged as the fastest U-18 boy in the Meet by clinching the 100m gold with a timing of 10.70s and also equalled the State record with his fine effort.

Shashikanth equalled the State record of 10.70s set by Irfan Sheikh in 2011 and also by Mohamed Sadath in 2014. Incidentally, Shashikanth had won 200m gold on the first day with a timing of 21.60s and had created a new State record erasing the previous record of 21.70s set by Mohamed Sadath in 2014.

P.K. Neetha of Mysuru emerged as the fastest girl in the Meet by winning the 100m with a timing of 13.00s.
