Mysuru: Four persons, who attempted to run over a car on a Police Inspector, who was on duty, were arrested by Kuvempunagar Police on Feb.2 and a case has been registered at Saraswathipuram Police Station in this regard.
The arrested are 34-year-old K. Kiran, 35-year-old K. Keerthi, 32-year-old Kiran Kumar and 28-year-old B. Manjunath. The Police have also seized the Santro car (KA-09 P-9809) used for the crime.
On Feb.2 at about 12.35 am, Kuvempunagar Inspector J.C. Raju and staff were conducting checking of vehicles near Bogadi Check-Post in Saraswathipuram Police limits, when the four accused, who came in the Santro car, saw the Police checking, took a U-turn and sped away.
Suspecting something fishy, Inspector Raju and staff, chased the Santro car in their Department vehicle and caught them near Sai Saraswathi School near Bankers Colony, during which the accused tried to run over the car on Inspector Raju, who managed to escape. The accused then manhandled the Inspector and prevented the Police from performing their duties.
Soon, Inspector Raju, ASI Shivanna and staff Madesh, Yogesh, Suresh and Praveen, caught hold of the accused and took them into custody and registered a case at Saraswathipuram Police Station, according to a press release from the Public Relations Officer (PRO), City Police Commissioner’s Office, Mysuru.
