State-level Veerashaiva-Lingayat Employees meet begins

Mysuru: A grand procession marked the day-long 10th State Level Karnataka State Veerashaiva-Lingayat Employees Welfare Association meet in city this morning.

State BJP Yuva Morcha office-bearer B.Y. Vijayendra, who is the son of former CM B.S. Yeddyurappa flagged off the procession at Basaveshwara Statue near Gun House. The procession, in which a burst of Basaveshwara was taken out in a decorated chariot, passed through Chamaraja Double Road, Ramaswamy Circle, JLB road, Metropole Circle and Vinoba Road, before culminating at Kalamandira, where the programme is taking place.

Yeddyurappa, who inaugurated the stage programme, also released ‘Kayaka Deevige’ a souvenir brought out by the Association to mark the occasion.

Former MLA Ashok Kheny launched the Sangha website and a calendar dedicated to late Siddaganga Mutt Seer Shivakumara Swamiji was also released on the occasion.

The Association presented a charter of demands to B.S. Yeddyurappa, which included establishment of Veerashaiva-Lingayat Development Corporation, A CA site for the Association at Bengaluru and other district headquarters, ‘Bharath Ratna’ award for late Shivakumara Swamiji and grants for Veerashaiva Educational Institutions, among others.

Suttur Mutt Seer Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji graced the occasion.

MLAs C.S. Niranjan Kumar and L. Nagendra, former IAS officer G. Somashekar, ZP Vice-President Gowramma Somashekar, Corporator Sunanda Palanetra, ZP members Sadananda, Guruswamy, Leelavathi Siddaveerappa, the Association State President Shivashankar, District President M.K. Swamy and others were present.
