Mysuru: Sri Krishna Ganasabha has organised a three-day music concert as part of its 17th annual celebrations and Thyagaraja – Purandara Dasa Aradhana Mahotsava from Mar.8 to Mar. 10 at its premises in Gokulam 3rd Stage in city.
Star of Mysore Editor-in-Chief K.B. Ganapathy will inaugurate the event on Mar.8 at 6 pm. Former MLA and Chairman of Vidya Vikas Educational Trust Vasu and Corporator S.B.M. Manju will be the chief guests. President of Krishna Ganasabha B.S. Sridhar Raj Urs will preside.
The inauguration will be followed by a music programme ‘Bhava Lahari’ at its Alwar Kalabhavan, Sri Krishna Temple premises by the disciples of Music Director H.R. Leelavathi — Vidushi Rohini Mohan, Vidushi Surekha Hegde and Vidwan Dhanush Jagadeesh. This programme is sponsored by Sri Krishna Seva Samithi Charitable Trust, Department of Kannada and Culture, Bengaluru.
Profile: Rohini Mohan started singing at a very tender age and has participated in ‘Makkala Karyakrama’ in All India Radio (AIR) at the age of six. She had Karnatak classical training under Lakshmi and later sugama sangeetha under H.R. Leelavathi for over 12 years. Trained in Hindustani classical music under Kushala Jagannath, she is an A-grade artiste of AIR.
Graduated from Mysore Medical College, Rohini is married to very supportive M.S. Ram Mohan, Director in a Multinational Company. Their daughter Surabhi Mohan is an Engineer-Singer while son Sourabha Ram Mohan, a C.A. in the making.
During 1979-80, she performed at programmes sponsored by the Department of Information and Broadcasting all over Karnataka educating people on family planning. She has performed in Vishwa Kannada Sammelana held in Manchester, UK – 1988, AKKA Sammelana, Baltimore – 2006, Kaveri Kannada Sangha, Tanzania – 2013, Kannada Sangha in Singapore – 2014 and Samskruthi Indo-Japan Cultural Exchange, Tokyo – 2015.
Surekha Hegde, a professional singer, studied at Dr. a.v. baliga College, Kumta and lives in Bengaluru. She has performed at one of the memorable Kuvempu Geetha Gayana programme at Phala-Pushpa Pradarshana Vedike, Lalbagh, Bengaluru.
She is an ‘A’ grade artiste of All India Radio and Doordarshan. Also a popular singer of Marathi Abhangs.
Dhanush Jagadeesh hails from Mandya and is a BE graduate, now doing MBA at Bengaluru. A “Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” Season 13 participant, he has participated in Reality Shows and has sung for films also.
Mar. 9, 6 pm: Vidushi Prarthana Rao will present a vocal recital accompanied by Vidwans C.N. Thyagarajan on violin, P.S. Sridhar on mridanga and V.S.Ramesh on ghata. This programme is sponsored by Ramprasad, President of Mukthaka Academy, Mysuru, Department of Kannada and Culture.
Mar.10, 9.30 am: Goshti gayana followed by vocal music programme by Vidushi Manasi Prasad, Vidwans H.K. Narasimhamurthy on violin, A. Radhesh on mridanga and S.Manjunath on ghata.
Prasadam will be distributed to the participants after the programme sponsored by Gowri Shankar and Shyamala Shankar, Nalini Chander and Chander, Ranjani Koushik and Radha Srisailam, Renukadevi and H. Krishnamurthy, according to a press release.
