Ten-day Kalavaibhav, Silk Utsav begins at JSS Urban Haat

Mysuru:  On the auspicious and festive occasion of Ugadi, the Directorate of Large and Mega Industries, in association with District Industries Centre, has organised ‘Kalavaibhav’ and ‘Silk Utsav’ at JSS Urban Haat premises, Ring Road, Mysuru.

The 10-day exhibition was inaugurated recently by Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha and the exhibition intends to encourage district-level crafts, promote local handicrafts and industrial products by creating a market for them.

Silk and cotton sarees, different metal, zari and embroidery objects, bed sheets, readymade cloth, sculpture, pottery, wooden toys, dolls, attractive household items, embroidery bags, imitation ornaments, Ayurvedic and herbal medicines, Rudrakshi, gem stones, tribal jewellery, Bidriware and Kundan artefacts, bronze idols, embroidery sarees, Channapattana toys, flower pots are on display at the mega event.

More than 100 stalls have been set up to showcase attractive products in association with small industries, self-help groups, handicraftsmen, self-employed artists and skilled workers, handloom weaver co-operative societies. More than 80 master craft persons, weavers, co-operative societies and cottage industries from all over the country are displaying their products.

The exhibition will end on Mar.31 and is open between 10 am and 9 pm, according to the organisers.

Umakanth, Joint Director of DIC D.K. Lingaraju, Joint Director, Directorate of Large and Mega Industries B.K. Shivakumar, Industrialist Rakesh Shetty and others were present                                                 on the occasion.
