Mysuru: University of Mysore (UoM) Registrar Prof. Lingaraj Gandhi has said that necessary measures have been taken to address drinking water problems in all hostels of the University.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Prof. Lingaraj Gandhi said following protests from inmates of women PG Hostel over lack of water supply, three borewells in the hostel campus were repaired and water supply was restored.

Pointing out that 4,200 students are staying in 20 hostels of the University, he said that 40 borewells have been drilled to supply water to them. However, six borewells became dysfunctional a few days ago, out of which three have been repaired.

Admitting that drinking water problems surfaced in some hostels, which was but natural in the summer season, he said that the MCC was also supplying good quantity of drinking water.

Maintaining that 50,000 litres of potable water is being supplied to all University hostels daily, Prof. Gandhi said the three remaining dysfunctional borewells too will be repaired soon.
