Mysuru: Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI), Mysuru Chapter, in association with the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, MMC&RI and Government College of Nursing, Mysuru had organised an awareness programme on ‘Management of Dementia’ at MMC&RI premises here recently.
About 100 nursing students and Community Health Officers participated.
Inaugurating the programme, MMC&RI Dean and Director Dr.C.P. Nanjaraj said that dementia or loss of memory hitherto was common after 60 years but is affecting much younger people now. He opined that doctors and nurses should handle such patients with care.
He pointed out that Sept. 21 is being observed as World Alzheimer’s Day to bring the disease under important care.
Releasing the commemorative posters on the occasion, MMC&RI Principal Dr. K.R. Dakshayani expressed happiness in ARDSI adopting a few villages to create awareness on the disease.
HoD of Community Medicine Dr. Mudassir Azeez Khan, ARDSI, Mysuru Chapter President Dr. Hanumanthachar Joshi, Joint Secretary Dr. Nandaprakash and others were present.
