Women achievers conferred ‘Mahila Ratna’ Awards

Mysuru: As part of International Women’s Day, six women achievers from different fields were conferred ‘Maharani Kempananjammanni Mahila Ratna’ award at a programme organised by Karnataka Sena Pade at Rotary Hall on JLB Road here on Saturday.

Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath said that Mysuru is home to several firsts and this is because of the enormous contribution made by the erstwhile rulers of Mysore.

Recalling the role of Maharani Kempananjammanni in Women’s Education, Women Empowerment etc., she said that though women have made a mark in almost every field and sector, it was high time for women to look at more opportunities and avenues to reach greater heights.

Highlighting the importance of appearing for competitive exams, the Mayor said that competitive exams always helps in gaining more and more knowledge in various topics.

Dr. K.V. Lakshmidevi, Senior Gynaecologist; Prof. S.A. Kamala Jain, faculty, Government Maharaja Sanskrit Patashala; Dr. A. Pushpa Iyengar, writer; Dr. P. Bhramaramba Maheshwari, woman priest; N. Sangeetha, an automobile entrepreneur and C.V. Apoorva Jain, musician and dancer, were conferred the awards.

Also, talented students of Nataraja Women’s College were presented ‘Pratibha Puraskara’ on the occasion.

Karnataka Sena Pade State President C.R. Srinivasgowda, District President Tejesh Lokeshgowda, Kutumba Rakshana Vedike President Dr. Manjula Umesh, Maharani’s Arts College for Women faculty Dr. M.S. Anitha and others were present.
