Dr. R. Balasubramaniam, Founder, Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM), Mysuru, will be delivering a talk on “Development Leadership & Political Leadership – A Comparative Perspective” on Sunday (May 19) at 6.30 pm at Kalpa Kshetra Auditorium, 581/1, Vijayanagar 4th Stage, 1st Phase, Mysuru. Dr. Balasubramaniam is a well-known figure in development circles for his work at Grassroots-level. This talk is about understanding leadership and development, what it would take to lead development in the current context. It is also about exploring how the power of the State has grown over time and how political leadership is a critical component in determining State-led initiatives and public policies.

The speaker will draw from his experience of working with political and bureaucratic leadership from several countries and will present a comparative assessment of the kind of leadership that exists in the political and development domains. He will try to present a case of how there is a need for leaders to be politically savvy while at the same time retain the ability to drive development. The talk is open to all.
