French delegation visiting city

Mysuru: A French delegation comprising Dr. Srini V. Kaveri, Director, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS, National Centre for Scientific Research), Dr. Jérôme BOVE, Scientific and Academic Attaché, Anupama Ambika, Project Manager, Embassy of France, are visiting the city on May 30 and 31 .

During their visit, the delegation will hold meeting with the authorities at CSIR-CFTRI   (May 30 – 4 pm), JSS University of Higher Education and Research (May 31 – 11 am) and the University of Mysore (May 31 – 3 pm).

Dr. Srini Kaveri, Eminent Scientist, Ph.D from Pasteur Institute, Paris, has vast research accomplishments in both basic applied aspects of immunology, and in particular on host-pathogen interactions, immunopathology, and immunotherapy with a special focus on autoimmunity and hemophilia.

He will deliver a series of lectures on ‘The impact of the changing environment on our immune system’, ‘Progress in the use of therapeutic antibodies in various immune dysfunctions, and also the relevance of scientific evaluation in unearthing the invaluable treasure of medicinal plants.

Dr. Jérôme BOVE, Ph.D from the National Institute of Agronomy in Paris, works as the Scientific Director of the High Council for Strategic Research, a research-funding agency affiliated to the Prime Minister’s Office, France.

Dr. BOVE will talk about “Opportunities of Higher Education and Research in the EU (European Union) and France”.

Dr. P.V. Ravindra, Principal Investigator, CSIR-CFTRI, who is coordinating their Mysuru visit, says “their visit is a first-of-its-kind and will create a number of opportunities for scientists, faculties as well to the healthcare professionals to explore the possibilities of research collaborations with research laboratories in the EU and France. Further, the talk will also be of an immense benefit for research scholars to explore higher education and research opportunities in both EU and France”.
