Mysuru: District Administration, Zilla Panchayat and Department of Health & Family Welfare together launched the ‘Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) – 2019’ in the district at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Keelanapura here on Monday.
The programme was launched by ZP President Parimala Shyam. ZP Member K.Y. Bhagya, TP Member H.S. Anjali, Keelanapura GP President Sannamma and others were present.
Speaking to SOM, District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Venkatesh said that the prog. would cover children in the age group of 0 to 5 years who are most vulnerable to diarrhoea (dysentery).
The district has 2,41,106 children in the aforementioned age group and 401 places have been identified as high risk areas. There is nothing to panic as ASHA workers would visit houses and distribute Oral Rehydration Salt (ORS) packets and Zinc tablets and would also demonstrate preparation of the ORS solution.
The programme is being launched under the National Health Mission, explained the DHO adding that the ORS packets and Zinc tablets were also available at all hospitals and PHCs.
