Jail inmate dies of illness

Mysuru: An inmate of Mysuru Central Prison, who was suffering from severe illness and admitted to K.R. Hospital on June 16 by the Jail authorities, has breathed his last yesterday.

The deceased is Vishwanath (63), a resident of Srirampura in city, who was serving jail sentence in a cheque bounce case.

Vishwanath had taken a loan from a woman and had given a cheque. As he was unable to honour the cheque, the cheque had bounced, the woman had lodged a complaint under Instrument Act.

The Court, which took up the hearing, found Vishwanath guilty and had imposed a fine of Rs.8,30,000 and one year simple imprisonment about 21 days ago.

Vishwanath, who was unable to pay the fine was ready to undergo the jail sentence and was in jail, according to Mandi Police, who had registered a case.

The body was shifted to MMC&RI mortuary where post-mortem was conducted and the body was later handed over to the family members.
