Gowri-Ganesha Festival: DC orders usage of clay idols

With Gowri-Ganesha Festival to be celebrated in September, Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G. Sankar in a press release has asked officials of the district to create awareness among people to compulsorily use only clay idols and not Plaster of Paris or chemical painted idols. He stated that even makers of idols should be made aware of the environmental conservation and violators would invite legal action.  The DC has asked officials to initiate awareness programmes on usage of clay idols from now only.
