Dasara Film Festival from Sept.29

Mysuru: This year’s Dasara Film Festival would be held from Sept.29 to Oct.3, said Dasara Film Festival Sub-Committee Deputy Special Officer B.N. Girish, here this morning. Addressing the media persons at Vartha Bhavan, he said that CM B.S. Yediyurappa would be requested to be chief guest and District Minister V. Somanna, Golden Star Ganesh, actress Ashika Ranganath will be present.

Movie Screening

Movies will be screened between Sept. 29 and Oct.3 at INOX in Mall of Mysore. A total of 60 shows, 12 each day from three screens, comprising national and international award winning will be screened along with Kannada movies. The festival pass for the film festival is made available at Rs.400 and day pass at Rs.100. 

Short Film Contest

The Sub-Committee has also organised Short Film Contest. The film should be original and must be of 5 mins duration. Interested can submit the film in a CD format to the Office of the Deputy Director, Department of Information and Public Relations, Dhanvantri Road. Last date to submit the films is Sept.25 (5 pm). 

Film Workshop

For the first time, the Film Festival Committee has organised a three-day workshop for movie aspirants. The workshop will be inaugurated by District Minister V. Sommanna on Sept.20 at Vijnana Bhavana in Manasagangothri at 10.30 am. National Award winning Director P. Sheshadri will be the Director for the workshop. 

The first day of the workshop will feature a talk by Sheshadri on ‘Story and Screenplay’ between 11.45 and 1.30 pm and Film Director B.S. Lingadevaru on ‘From Literature to Cinema.’

On Sept.21, Film Director Adarsh Eshwarappa will talk on ‘Screenplay design and cinema language’ between 10 am and 1.30 pm and Director B. Suresh will talk on ‘Writing of screenplay and dialogue.’

The final day of the workshop (Sept. 22) will feature a talk on ‘Screenplay Drafting’ between 10 am and 1.30 pm followed by talk on ‘Story-Screenplay Approach’ by journalist Girish Rao Hatwar (Jogi) and P. Sheshadri.

The registration fees for the workshop is Rs.200 for students and Rs.400 for others. Those taking part in the workshop will gain free entry for the Film Festival.
