As part of Dasara festival, the Automotive Sports Club of Mysuru (ASCOM), with support from the Department of Tourism, Government of Karnataka, will be conducting Mysuru Dasara Gravel Fest Autocross Race in city on Oct. 13.
Announcing this at a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, ASCOM Director Arun Urs said that the Autocross will take place at Lalitha Mahal Helipad grounds on Oct. 13, in which over 100 drivers from different parts of the country will participate.
Pointing out that there will be nine categories of cars — up to 1,100cc, 1100-1400cc, 1400-1650cc, Indian Open Class, Unrestricted Class, Ladies Class and SUV Class, he said that for the first time, APEX class, a category reserved for special tuned fast cars is being introduced.
Stating that a record 10 drivers are competing for the top position in Ladies Class, Arun Urs said that the race will start at 8.30 am and is expected to conclude by 5.30 pm.
The winner of the race, called as Gravel King will take home Rs. 2 lakh cash prize and a silver trophy, he said and added that use of plastic is completely banned throughout the race.
He further said that Pramoda Devi Wadiyar and actor Darshan are expected to be present as guests for the event.
Two other Directors of ASCOM Charan Raj and Lokesh were present at the press meet.
