Mysuru: Alleging that there is total maladministration in the functioning of Karnataka State Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University in city, Music Patron C.R. Himamshu, who is well-known for organising Music Concerts as part of Ganeshotsava at VV Mohalla 8th Cross, has urged the State Government to appoint a regular Vice-Chancellor to the Music University at the earliest.
In a press release, Himamshu said that the Acting VC Dr. Nagesh Bettakote was functioning in a dictatorial manner, taking unilateral decisions without bothering to consult others on key matters.
Accusing the acting VC of unnecessarily spending huge sums of money on unimportant programmes in total violation of rules, he said that Dr. Nagesh was ignoring academic courses and the high fees stipulated for certificate courses had disappointed all those who want to learn music at this prestigious University.
He also accused the acting VC of pushing the University to its brink, by not giving proper attention to improving admissions and also failing in making the courses more attractive.
Maintaining that the University was running without a regular VC for over one-and-a-half years, Himamshu urged the Government to save the University from further disaster by appointing a regular VC and filling up the Offices of Registrar, Finance Officer and Assistant Executive Engineer.
