Farmer ends life in Mandya taluk

Mandya: A farmer Manjunath (40), son of Srinivas of Hulivana village in the taluk allegedly committed suicide this morning by hanging from a tree at the agricultural land he owned.

Manjunath was said to had grown sugarcane in his 3-acre land. He was reportedly waiting for the clearance permit for the 14-month-old crop to be cut and transported to NSL Sugar factory in Koppa and Bannari Amman Sugars. The two factories were said to be giving evasive replies for clearing the cane. An upset Manjunath was already burdened by medical expenses of his father in Bengaluru and decided to end his life.

Keragodu Police have registered a case.
