Flees with genuine gold chain after giving fake one

Mysuru/Mysore: A woman, who received a 30 grams genuine gold chain from another woman has given her 140 grams fake gold chain thus cheating the innocent woman in city on Tuesday. Pallamma, a resident of Lashkar Mohalla in city is the woman, who lost her gold chain worth Rs. 1.20 lakh.

On Tuesday at about 10.30 am, Pallamma was proceeding to a bank on Ashoka Road, when an unidentified woman approached her and said that her daughter was pregnant due to illicit relationship and wanted to get the baby aborted.

The unidentified woman further told Pallamma that she does not have money but has a gold chain, which she (Pallamma) could keep it and give her money. As Pallamma was speaking with the unidentified woman, a stranger approached them, saw the gold chain and told them that the gold chain weighs 140 grams and cost Rs.3 lakh. He then told the unidentified woman that he will buy the gold chain and asked her to wait while he gets the cash and leaves the spot.

After the stranger leaves, the unidentified woman tells Pallamma that she was not interested to give the gold chain to the stranger and insisted Pallamma to buy it. When Pallamma tells the unidentified woman that she does not have that much of cash with her, the unidentified woman tells Pallamma to give the gold chain she was wearing and give whatever cash was with her.

Pallamma then removes her 30 grams gold chain and gives it to the unidentified woman and takes the 140 grams chain from the unidentified woman. After moving a short distance, Pallamma looks at the chain and comes to know that the chain the unidentified woman showed was different from the one she had received.

After ascertaining that the gold chain given by the unidentified woman was a fake one, Pallamma rushed to Lashkar Police Station and filed a complaint.
