Union Budget analysis by CII Mysuru Chairman

February 3, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: “Like previous budgets, there were no big bang announcements in this year’s Union budget. The Government has done well to categorise its priority areas at a high level under agriculture, economic development and education and then further sub-divide each of these as action plans,” said Bhaskar Kalale, Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mysuru.

He was reacting to the Union Budget-2020 at the Budget Conclave  held at SDM-IMD in city yesterday.

Kalale mentioned that, “It is also heartening that Government is sticking to its earlier plan of doubling farmer’s income by 2022 and thereby increasing domestic demand for goods and services. Some highlights were incentives for start-ups, concessions for MSMEs, plans to set up electronic manufacturing, expansion of Government eMarketplace, emphasis on using technology such as Artificial Intelligence, analytics, machine learning, electronic refunds, etc. — which are all good structural changes.”

For the individual tax-payers, reduction in tax rates and increase in insurance coverage for their deposits should boost consumer sentiments.

On the education and skill development areas, there is adequate schemes to skill our youths, including the ones who go abroad looking for job opportunities such as nurses, para-medics and care givers, he said.
