Bengaluru Open ATP Challenger Tennis: Mysuru lads go down in first round

Sidharth Rawat was at his best as he went past Borna Gojo of Croatia 3-6, 7-6(3), 7-6(3) in the first round of the Men’s Singles event in the $1,62,480 Bengaluru Open ATP Challenger Men’s Tennis Tournament at the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) Stadium yesterday.

Sasikumar Mukund ousted Blaz Kavoic of Slovenia 2-6,6-3, 6-4 to progress to the second round. Saketh Myneni staved off the challenge put up by Aslan Karatsev of Russia 6-3, 6-3 to forge ahead.

National Champion Niki Poonacha had to give his best to get past Wild Card entrant Adil Kalyanpur 6-4, 6-7(5), 7-6(4) to enter the second round.

Mysuru lads, S.D. Prajwal Dev and Suraj R. Prabodh lost their first round matches. Sultanov Khumoyun (Uzb) beat S.D. Prajwal Dev 6-2, 6-1 while Orlov Vladyslav (Ukraine) got the better of Suraj Prabodh 6-2, 6-2 to progress further.
