Bengaluru: The Education Department has decided to scrap the ranks allotted to various educational districts based on their pass percentage in SSLC and PU exams. Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait said that they would do away with this practice from the next academic year.
Sources said, certain ‘unhealthy practices’ led to the scrapping of the system.
They said that some district officials were trying to boost the performance of schools and colleges through nefarious means so that the pass percentage in the district could be improved.
However, Sait said that the Department would collect details of the districts with poor performance to focus various initiatives on these districts.
