Mysore/Mysuru: Following the Chinese Embassy’s decision to evacuate Chinese students from India, the University of Mysore (UoM) is conducting exams for Chinese students who are pursuing higher education in the University.

UoM Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar said that the Chinese Embassy in India had appealed to complete the exams as early as possible, as it has decided to send the students back to China. 

Pointing out that more than 70 Chinese students who had studied M.Sc (Information Technology) course are appearing for the exam that started from June 1, he said that the University has about 120 Chinese students. But some of them have left the country before the outbreak of COVID-19 and the exam will be conducted online for those students, he added.

Continuing, Prof. Hemantha Kumar said that the Embassy had requested to complete the exams before June 8. But the Varsity, which is conducting the exam in two sessions daily (9 am to 12 noon and 2 pm to 5 pm) will conclude the exams on June 6 itself, he said and added that the Chinese Embassy will be making special arrangements to ferry the students back to China.

He further said that the exam is being conducted by maintaining COVID-19 regulations such as social distancing, wearing of face masks and use of hand sanitisers.
