Demand to conserve Buddhist remains at Saket in Ayodhya

June 22, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: As part of its Nationwide ‘Save Saket, Save Buddhist Heritage’ campaign, over fifty activists of Buddhist International Network, led by former Mayor Purushotham staged a demonstration in front of Vishwa Maithri Buddha Vihar near Ashoka Circle (Ballal Circle) on Dr. Ambedkar Road here this morning, urging the Government to conserve Buddhist remains found at Saket Nagar in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, where Ram Mandir is set to come up.

Maintaining that the Buddhist remains and traces found in Saket Nagar points to the fact that it was the place where Buddhism thrived thousands of years ago, the protestors wanted the Government to conduct more excavations in the area.

DSS leaders Tumbala Ramanna, Siddaraju, Subbaiah and others took part in the campaign.
