Mysore/Mysuru: Kuvempunagar Police have arrested two chain-snatchers and have recovered gold chains worth Rs. 8.35 lakh from them besides seizing two scooters used for the crime by them.
The arrested are 24-year-old H.D. Devaraju of Hanumanthanagar village and 24-year-old K. Guru of Kirangur (Baburayanakoppal), both in Srirangapatna taluk. The accused were caught on July 10 at about 6.15 am by K.R. Sub-Division Crime Detection staff near Pushpashram Circle in N.R. Police limits.
During interrogation, the accused are said to have told the Police that they had snatched three gold chains in Kuvempunagar Police limits and one in Vijayanagar Police limits.
Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered 185 gram gold chains worth Rs. 8.35 lakh from them. DCP M.S. Geetha and K.R. Sub-Division ACP M.S. Poornachandra Tejaswi supervised Kumvempunagar Police Inspector G.C. Raju, Sub-Inspector Irshad, ASIs Kantharaju, Dhananjay and Muraligowda and staff M.P. Manjunath, P.K. Bhagat, S. Mahadeva, Yogish, Sagar, Girish, Puttappa, Meghyanaika, Harish, Siddarama Poojary, Nagesh, Srinivas and Madesh in the nabbing, recovery and seizing operation.
It may be recalled that the accused on July 7 at about 4.30 pm had snatched a 40 gram and a 20 gram gold chain from women in Madhuvana Layout coming under Kuvempunagar Police limits and the Police had registered a case following complaints.
