Young Indians, Mysuru Chapter holds virtual hackathon

Mysore/Mysuru: Young Indians (Yi), Mysuru Chapter, for the first time, had organised a virtual 24-hour hackathon “InnovIndia-2020 — Challenging Young Minds” on July 31 and Aug. 1. This event was open to all Yi Chapters across India and a total of 65 teams participated. 

The problem statement related to the current pandemic situation on preparing app, website or prototype of the product. 

The topics were: Social distancing app, Tracking & tracing fake news, Statistical data analysis of COVID +ve patients/symptoms,  Identification of COVID-19 symptoms, Device used to detect COVID 19, Application for migrant workers, Attendance using face recognition in a class room with single click, Food safety & delivery, Design an app for paperless examination screening system for semester exam,  Build a voice based form filling application in which voice gets recognized and converted into text, COVID patient’s vehicle movement history tracking app. 

A total of 35 teams from Mysuru Colleges participated and presented their ideas and prototypes to the jury. Two teams won internship offers from this event at companies in Mysuru and Bengaluru.  

Besides 8 cities of Yi also participated in this virtual event along with Yi Mysuru and these 8 winners will be given a chance to pitch their idea and showcase their prototypes in front of a venture capitalist and become future entrepreneurs.

The winning team from Mysuru — Change Maker and Hypertext Assassins — demonstrated their prototype on Attendance using face recognition in a class room with single click & Build a voice based form filling application in which voice gets recognised and converted into text respectively.

The core team at Yi, Mysuru was represented by Dr. M. Pradeep, Chapter Chair, Nikhil P. Koundinya, Co-chair – Yi Mysuru,  Smita Tom – Chair Innovation, S.D. Sowmya  – Chair – Yuva, S.R.S. Rahul, Co-chair – Yuva and Rohan Krishna, Chair – GAO, Yi Mysuru.
