Replace defunct streetlights: Former Mayor Ayub Khan

September 7, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: Former Mayor and Corporator Ayub Khan has urged Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) officials and elected representatives to replace defunct streetlights in city. The demand comes in the wake of Dasara High Power Committee meeting that will be held in Bengaluru tomorrow, chaired by Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa.

Speaking to Star of Mysore this morning, Ayub Khan said, “Defunct streetlights in most of the residential areas and main roads connecting these areas have not been replaced. As they have remained defunct, thousands of people commuting along these roads are facing a lot of difficulties,” he said.

“Three years ago, the MCC had planned to replace defunct and incandescent bulb on streetlights with more reliable LED bulbs. But this project is still on paper and has not materialised. I would like to urge all elected representatives and officials to speak to the Chief Minister on the issue during the High Power Committee meeting tomorrow,” he added.
